Broken Birds and Stark PhrasesWe slip and slide and fall

Disjointed limbs extend

Merry nightmare monsters,

Arachnic children know;

The PoetFor the work of a Poet to be truly appreciated
he must write it with his own blood and tears for ink
his soul the sharpened quill to nail the words
like so many specimen of unwilling insects upon the paper.

And once he has bled out
becoming the cause of his own demise
the reader is left behind to digest his soul
so plainly trapped within a cage of words
his requiem written as a love song to his Muse.

Build walls around my words
Word-walls around my worlds
Shave off sharp edges
Blunt broken-glass glaciers
Compact, confine, conglomerate
The five in one, the whole wide array
Of thought, behaviour, movement
Into the box of 'normal'
Re-channel, restructure, move maddening impulse
To accepted acceptable action
Break pattern stride shape form
Snap string mid-sentence
Reject repetition, reject rocking, reject unreal reality
Re-shape in readable readiness
For quashing quick-draw question
Silencing scepticism, attacking assumption
But home, here, hearthfire
Here, isolation is intention, internal instinct.

Wow. You are clearly the king of alliteration, and it almost feels like that's the whole point. When I read this, I feel confused, but also very okay with being confused. Lovely work.

Being confused by it is pretty much standard, I think - there're a tonne of references in there which are personal, and a tonne more which only work if your brain works in a similar way to mine - but I'm glad it works in spite of that.
