So this was originally a status update, but since I don't particularly want to YELL VERY LOUDLY at folk, it's a journal entry now (which also allows me to put more detail in it, helpfully).

The Patreon's mostly going to be focused on stuff for Argentum in Aqua (my gaslamp fantasy trilogy, the one which Sabbat and Archer originally come from), including early access to draft chapters - because I'm putting all the draft chapters I have so far online, a month at a time. Which is... a choice I've made. (Mostly it's to get my arse in gear to actually finish the damn draft, because having an active readership would definitely do that. It's also because I have over 200,000 words down on this project and would like to share them with folks xD)

Seventh Son is still ongoing, and I'm still writing, but my degree's eating a fair amount of my time right now. Thankfully, it's almost the end of term, so there should be a few more chapters coming up in the next couple of weeks. 

(Completely off-topic, Horizon Zero Dawn is a bloody good game and if you have a PS4 you should absolutely play it)

We're back into the swing of uni term-time now, so updates on Seventh Son are likely to be far more spaced out than they were over the holidays - but they will continue. 

And, so this isn't just a 'everything will go on as before' post - any questions from anyone r.e. the story/characters?

...and realise it really isn't very good. 

That's not a compliment-fish, by the way. I've got back into reading after having failed out of doing it over the last few weeks (okay so I may be reading as a distraction from revising, but shush) and it's thrown into sharp relief how shoddy a lot of my phrasing in Seventh Son is. 

However. 

It's a first draft, it's going brain to page to submit, and that's the way it was meant to be as a project - I'm mostly challenging myself to see if the make-it-up-as-you-go-along approach will actually net me a fully-functional story. 

So it'll stay what it is and how it is, shoddy and clunky as that is, for now. And then when I've finished, I'll start tinkering and see if there isn't a fully-fledged fully-realised story inside that slightly junky exterior

I have discovered that a) I enjoy taking photos and b) the camera on my phone isn't awful. Thus, photo spam. However, this is and will remain primarily a place for lit - which is why I've also started a new project.

It's called Seventh Son (provisional title, but it'll do for now) and is intended to be an LGBTQ+ YA fantasy story, because tropes are fun, small chapters are quick to write, and I am currently having a serious case of 'if you can't see yourself represented in stories, why not write stories which represent you?'. It's going up brain-to-page, so it'll likely be rough and unedited, but it is what it is - and I hope you enjoy it

Am happy to take questions on the characters or the world, though I reserve the right to be an irritating author and reply purely with 'SPOILERS' if you're asking about things I'm going to dive into in the text itself. 

There's not really an update schedule, given I've also got uni to contend with, but I'm aiming to get at least one chapter out a week - more if I've the time.
